SoCal's Ride: November 11, 2001  to Devil' Punch Bowl, California

It was a great November ride. Temp. about 70, blue skies, great friends. Great thing about California is we rode thru places that had the leaves turning color as they do back east, then through mountains, desert and pine. Devil's Punch Bowl was remarkable and amazing to see the power of Mother Nature. Devil's Punch Bowl was created from the movement of the San Andreas Fault, that sucker moves a little to much and I'll be treading water... But the fault is what shaped most of California making the beautiful works of nature including the Devil's Punch Bowl and for that matter the mountains that we look up on everyday from the LA area.

All over Southern and Central California folks were meeting up to ride together to the beginning of the Devil's Punch Bowl Ride. This is San Dimas

We all gathered at Hansen Damn, had a 50/50 "New Guy" won a hundred bucks. Some coffee and donuts thanks Rob & Daryl and we were gone

We ride to our first stop

First stop, Bear Divide in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mtns. Highest Peak, Mt San Antonio (Mt. Baldy) 10,080 feet

Looking toward Saugus, CA.

Marty Rood, (on left, facing) many time contributer to F6Rider Webzine and author of "Group Riding" which get published for all our ride-ins.

We leave for Devil's Punch Bowl

The Tunnel, great place for pipe modifications

Gary & Sally, our SoCal leader and his Navigator

Pook! Devil's Punch Bowl was his idea for a ride, and a great one it was...

Rob & Daryl, Rob's our SoCal WebMaster and Daryl the spark plug that gets everything done!

To explain Devil's Punch Bowl would take an article, maybe I can get Pook to do just that.

These rocks were formed laying flat. It is the famous San Andreas Fault movement that tossed them about.

Group Shot of just a few Valk folk: Donna, Joe, Mark, Lyn, Workerbee, oZ, Pook and Don

Pook and friend, maybe?

Yea, he's cool

We're outta here

Workerbee with Friend

Autunm in the California Desert, off to lunch...

Mark & Lyn of CATSpecialties. Members first, vendors second. I love vendors that actually ride Valkyries! I love these guys, they've done much 4 VRCC

What! this ain't the mountains, this is 45 minutes the other directions: I love LA...
