Blessed with a Flat
I was riding through the East side of Orlando, Fl., looking for a particular street I was supposed to turn on to go to Woodlawn Cemetery--visit my Grandparents resting place.
Riding on a somewhat
bald rear tire! When I left on this trip from Bay Minette, Al.(500mi.) I figured
I could make this trip and change it when I got back, WRONG!
As I was saying, I was looking for my turn, and I thought it can't be
this far down-must have missed it! If the next street isn't it, I'll stop and
ask (guys only do this absolutely as a last resort).
So I go through this intersection and I hear this "POP", "What the heck was that?" Bike seems fine, nothing unusual. So that wasn't my street either! I turn around and go back to a gas station about a mile back.
About two blocks from the station, I stop at a light and she starts to wobble on me! I pull into the station straight for the air! As you might have guessed, it's coming out as fast as I put it in!
It just so happens that when I stopped it was right on the place in the tire where I could see a piece of metal about an inch long, dead center of the tire!!
Oh well, let's just see how good my road side assistance is. Works just fine, wrecker came and got me, took me to a dealer about 5 miles away (in the direction I needed to be going anyway!). Blessed again!
You see it was a Monday and they only have one technician working. It was lunchtime, but the guy said he would do my tire and then go to lunch! As it turns out, my brake pads were down to the metal!! Had them replaced, too.
This was all a blessing! God had his hand in it all the way! You
see, although I had good weather going down, I ran through some nasty showers on
the trip home! I didn't know it, but God did and He knew that tire wasn't
safe! God's cool like that and I thank him
