My Dragon

My story started back in 1998 when I sold my 1973 Honda 750.. Loved the ride but it was really worn out...

The intent was to buy a new Valkyrie Interstate in the spring but things didn't work out..

I should have known better..

Next thing you know I am in the hospital recovering a heart attack.. Bummer!!

Next spring come and no ride.. Can't afford it after being unemployed for 6 months...

Summer comes around and I'm back in the hospital with a torn shoulder tendon.. Man life sucks sometimes!!

Years go by and I am recovered from my injuries... and I have some money saved up .. Maybe a new bike in the spring..

Then my life really changed.. I went to the Honda dealer to get some parts for a friend. I casually comment "Where's all the Valkyries" (there are none in the place).

The parts guy says "I'll ask. Just happens to be a salesperson walking by and he says they got one left in the warehouse...

So I ask "When are the 2004's coming out?" Shows you how far behind I was.

He chuckles and says there are none .. It will be called a Rune.. for $25,000 if you can get one.

After I get done picking my jaw up off the floor I squeak out "How much for the Valkyrie in the warehouse?"

He says" $13,700, but we'll  sell it to you for $11,000."

I say  "where do I sign. " 2 Days later I pickup my dragon, site unseen... What a monster... took me 2 hours to get home... 10 miles.. man have I missed combing the rats out of my hair and the flavor of those green bugs......

You know that story about "The only way they will get my guns is from my  cold dead hands.."? Well, that's how I feel about my Valkyrie .......

Not many goodies yet, but it’s November here in Wisconsin, I have 6 months to get it set up and ready for riding. Man it's gonna be a long winter.  I have installed the windshield, And some driving lights -- I rewired most of the things suggested on your web site, especially the kill switch !!! That thing is annoying when you accidentally click it off at 80 mph. .sounded like I blew the exhaust off when I clicked it back on...

For those long rides where I don't want to lay my legs on the roll bars I installed some pegs.. They are a set of bicycle action pegs that kids put on the front axles and do tricks with.. I found them in Wal-Mart in the toy section.. They are 1 1/2" diameter chrome inside and out.. with a 1/2" thick end to bolt against (they come in black too). They are knurled on the outer 2". I took the bolt out of the rear leg of the standard roll bars and installed the pegs with a longer stainless steel bolt and washers.. They work great.. I put my heal on the factory pegs and the ball of my foot rests on the new pegs... they only stick out past the motor about 3 inches so their not gaudy.. In fact I think they look great...  Note the attached pics  and pass it on to the rest of the riders.... I love your web site, gives me something to dream about while the snow blows around the house..... thanks!!!! I might even get around to being a member but I am to busy cleaning the dragon right now.. Later!!!!
