Replace Your Petcock
I recently read the article about changing the fuel pet cock on a Valkyrie written from Ron.
I kept having stalling problems and found it out to be the vacuum line from the #3 carb on the right side. For some reason the carb would periodically not produce enough vacuum to maintain the correct amount of fuel supply to keep the bike running. I also had leaking problems with the shutoff valve in the past.
I called Honda who suggested replacing the complete valve at a cost of $135.00. I then thought, why not completely replace the entire valve with a shutoff valve like used on Harley's and such.
I again called Honda and asked if they carried, or new of a manual shutoff valve in order to remedy my situation. Honda replied that there was no way to do this, and that the only fix was to replace the existing valve with a factory one. I then called around and found a guy who had the same problem with his Kawasaki Nomad. He gave me the part number from Drag Specialities (DS-390218) and for $24.00 I was back in business.
It works perfectly and gets plenty of fuel. I had to modify the in tank filter a bit but that was no problem.
Please let me know if you have any other problems doing this, or if I can be of any assistance in the installation.
