Valkyrie Message Boards
We gotta believe we're lucky!

Motorcycles like the Valkyrie which are in such small numbers rarely have so many resources available to there owners in such a short time after the're delivered to the market.

Honda Marketing has done their share for sure. But a new wrinkle is in the marketing game, that being the internet. I may be wrong but I don't think Honda had a large role for the internet with the marketing plan for the Valkyrie.

What has emerged is very interesting.  Valkyrie owners actually picked up the torch and carried it to the web.

By providing a community of Valk riders willing to discuss their thoughts, discoveries and fascination with this truly neat machine these early websters may have done Honda a great marketing service it never expected.

Building slowly but gathering force these Valkers found a people on the internet that seem to understand the values of the Valkyrie.

In other words the things that draw an individual to the internet such as bleeding edge technologies and seemingly boundless possibilities draw the same person with an interest in motorcycles to the Valkyrie.

Hey we're not talking high tech here we are talking possibilities.   As far as communication goes right now the web promises to be the most rewarding environment to gather data going in today's world. The Valkyrie fulfills the promise to be the most rewarding cruiser available with mind numbing possibilities.

All of the preceding brings me to a point, I hope. That the wonderful content out there on the web for the Valkyrie is cool.

Many pages have sprung up with valuable content. see links. I think these pages could or should fall into three categories.

1.  Show and tell where you can see photos of Valks, maybe what people have done to them, etc.

2. Technicals, like how to make the Valk sing or how to futz with the carbs to improve performance.  and

3. My favorite; the message boards.

These are some wild and wholly places on our otherwise serene internet. I love these message boards for the rip and roar that sometimes flares amongst the participants on varying discussion ranging  from color schemes for Valks to discussing personal politics  approaching high treason!

The GWRRA's Valkyrie Special Interest Board was to my knowledge first. I remember the day I found it I was researching the Valkyrie using the web when I found Bob's F6 Valkyrie page. I was absolutely delighted to find a site with so much info PLUS Links! Links which led me to my new addiction: Valkyrie Message Boards. I get up, get dressed go to work, check the Valkyrie Board. Go to lunch, back to the office, check the Valkyrie Board. Get home, wave at the wife on the way to the PC to check that damn Valkyrie Board,

All was going along splendidly. My weekends on the Valk, My working hours on the Valk page (:

Then tragedy struck. And I thought I saw my first threat to my new found addiction. Someone was recruiting right on the GWRRA Valkyrie board to start a VOA (Valkyrie Owners Group). Now its not that that hadn't been discussed before as it had been the content of countless posts to the GWRRA board.

What was new here I thought was a move to draw folks away from the GWRRA Board. I was panicked. Not that I had a problem with starting a live honest to god VOA, nope my fear lay in having to many boards hence splitting the submitters hence diluting the opinions, hence boredom!

Well time and tide and all that. I feel pretty cool about what has transpired with the two Valkyrie Boards (actually three now, see below). They have a unique and  different feel about them. I feel some feel comfortable on one and others comfortable on the other.

I usually post to one but read both and I've seen those who even post to both boards. The VOA has been gracious enough to leave the VOA Message Board open to all, members or not, as the GWRRA Board has always has done.

The volume of good advise I get plus the fun of hearing war stories of some weekend ride. The spirit of community that exists and yes, even the occasional outbursts. These things feed my addiction and I wonder, how many out there feel the same as I do. Finest bike on the planet and a place to express it. That's lucky, you just gotta believe we're lucky.

Now there is yet another new kid in the neighborhood. Valkyrie Riders Cruiser Club. This is a variation or yet another organization supporting the Valkyrie. You can read the club's mission statement to see what makes them different from the GWRRA and the VOA. You'll find there message boards by clicking here.
